Christmas and New Year Opening Times

Our Barnsley office will be closed for the Christmas break from 12:00 on Friday 18th December and our Sheffield Office will be closed from 2pm on Wednesday 23rd December.

Both offices will re-open on Monday 4th January.

We wish you all a very happy Christmas and a peaceful

new year from everyone at Home-Start South Yorkshire.

Next date for Volunteer Training

Pictures 040 smallThe next preparation course for volunteers will begin on Wednesday 13th January 2016 and will run for 7 weeks.  We will then be running additional courses later in the year.


Music in the Gardens 2015

last_night_image This year Home-Start Sheffield have been chosen as one of the local charities that will benefit from the spectacular Music in the Gardens event held in the city’s Botanical Gardens from 2nd to 5th July.

We will be there for the final night, 5th July with the Unite Union brass band and the Sheffield Philharmonic orchestra and of course the last night fireworks!


Edna’s Story

Edna is 80 years old. She has volunteered with Home-Start for 15 years and has changed the lives of hundreds of people.
On Mother’s Day, Edna went to the cinema with her family. Watch what happened when she found out she was really the star of the show and was unexpectedly reunited with the families she’s helped throughout the years.


Sheffield children sing for Home-Start

This Saturday (21st March) sees junior and infant schools across Sheffield singing their hearts out at St John’s Church Ranmoor in aid of the city’s leading family support charity, Home-Start Sheffield.


Home-Start Sheffield Volunteers have tea with the Lord Mayor

Volunteers at Home-Start Sheffield were invited to the Town Hall to join the Lord Mayor, Cllr Peter Rippon, who took the time to talk to volunteers and praised the unseen work that they do. He said that volunteers are “the glue that holds the city together”

Make, play and learn with Home-Start

Parents as Teachers is a programme run by Home-Start Sheffield that offers support on learning, growth and development in children 0 – 3 years. We want to help parents make the most of their children’s curiosity and eagerness for learning. We offer fun activities to do with your children that encourages language, motor, social-emotional and intellectual development. Please come and join us at the sessions. All materials and information is provided and the sessions are free!

The sessions are being held at  the Together Women Project, 106 Arundle Lane, S1 4RF

The activities and dates are:
Tunnels, Sandpit and Active Play on 12th November
Making Shakers on 10th December
Books and Reading on 14th January

Each session will run from 9.30 to 11am, please contact Together Women Project on 2758282 or call in to book a place.
