Home-Start staff have warmth, energy, creativity and enthusiasm as well as administrative skills. They need the capacity both to plan and to develop the scheme.

Home-Start supports parents to grow in confidence, develop and strengthen relationships with their children and widen their links with the local community.
We recruit and train volunteers to visit families in their own home and offer them informal, friendly and confidential support. We also deliver family support groups.
Our service is unique, helping over 1,000 vulnerable children and families each year. 190 volunteers give up their time to undertake over 2,100 home-visits. In the last year, we provided over 4,750 hours of support to vulnerable families. Our work makes a real difference to local people — 92% of the families we work with feel less isolated as a result of our support. 88% of supported parents feel that their parenting skills have improved. 98% of families would recommend our services to others in similar circum-stances.
