Over the weekend, 11 intrepid cyclists rode over 150 miles each from Whitehaven, Cumbria to Tynemouth, Newcastle to raise money for Sheffield’s and Rotherham’s leading family support charity, Home-Start.
This year Home-Start Sheffield have been chosen as one of the local charities that will benefit from the spectacular Music in the Gardens event held in the city’s Botanical Gardens from 2nd to 5th July.
We will be there for the final night, 5th July with the Unite Union brass band and the Sheffield Philharmonic orchestra and of course the last night fireworks!
Edna is 80 years old. She has volunteered with Home-Start for 15 years and has changed the lives of hundreds of people.

This Saturday (21st March) sees junior and infant schools across Sheffield singing their hearts out at St John’s Church Ranmoor in aid of the city’s leading family support charity, Home-Start Sheffield.
Volunteers at Home-Start Sheffield were invited to the Town Hall to join the Lord Mayor, Cllr Peter Rippon, who took the time to talk to volunteers and praised the unseen work that they do. He said that volunteers are “the glue that holds the city together”
Parents as Teachers is a programme run by Home-Start Sheffield that offers support on learning, growth and development in children 0 – 3 years. We want to help parents make the most of their children’s curiosity and eagerness for learning. We offer fun activities to do with your children that encourages language, motor, social-emotional and intellectual development. Please come and join us at the sessions. All materials and information is provided and the sessions are free!

Families we work with have said that they are in free-fall and describe Home-Start as their parachute.
